Nurses have issued a direct appeal to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to intervene in their pay dispute ahead of the biggest strike in the history of the NHS.
Royal College of Nursing general secretary Pat Cullen said a “meaningful” pay offer from the government could still avert industrial action ahead of a mass walkout.
On both Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 February, nurses are set to strike, with ambulance crews and call handlers joining them on the first day.
