The Internet could damage democracy, says its creator

The creator of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, has issued a stark warning that the internet could damage democracy.

Berners-Lee launched an internet charter last week which aims to protect individuals’ rights on the web.

He said individuals needed to hold tech companies and governments to account, as the world faces the threats of political manipulation, abuse and discrimination.
