Olivia Gee just missed turning triple gold at the Canadian Youth Track and Field Championships held in Brandon, Man.

The Grade 9 Strathroy District Collegiate Institute athlete turned the triple gold trick at the OFSSA championship and Athletics Ontario event earlier this year.

As a member of Team Ontario in Brandon, Gee won the gold in the 80-metre hurdles and 200m hurdles and finished second by .04 seconds in the 200m final.

She wasn’t done there. As part of the Ontario relay teams, she won the 4×100 and silver in the sprint medley.

Gee is a member of the London Legion track and field club.

Other members of the London Legion had strong showings at the youth championship meet.

Brooke Overhold, a Grade 11 student at Stratford St. Michael’s, brought home three individual medals. She won silver in the 100m hurdles and the 400m and was third in the 400m hurdles. She also won silver in the 4×100 in a different age group.

Overhold’s times of 13.93 in the hurdles and 56.13 in the 400m were outstanding personal best performances.

Liam Mather remained undefeated on the season when he won the gold in the youth boys’ 110m hurdles. Mather was also a member of the gold-medal winning Ontario team in the 4x100m relay.

The three London Legion athletes arrive home from the competition Wednesday with a total of 12 medals between them.
