A truck full of dough overflowed onto a road in the US after hot weather caused the yeast in the mixture to rise.

The vehicle was driving along a highway in Tacoma in the state of Washington when the yeast in the dough it was carrying began to expand.

It eventually spilled over the top of the truck and began to drop in clumps along the tarmac.

Temperatures in Tacoma hit a high of about 27C on Monday when the incident happened.

Brooke Bova tweeted a photo of the accident and said: “When you think you’ve seen it all… dough. The heat is making it rise.”

The dough in the truck was “bakery waste” that was being transported to feed livestock.
